Q: What measurements can be used to prove to your school that your makerspace is successful? How can you record these measurements?

A1-
Student digital portfolios can be awfully powerful proof. Have students use devices to keep track of project pictures, journals, evidence of learning through tools like Seesaw, Thrively, etc. These are easily shared with parents. Create opportunities like parent Make night where parents will really back and support and talk about the things you are doing with other community members.
A2-
Consider establishing benchmarks and levels of success at the beginning of the year and measuring them via both surveys and formative assessments via something like Seesaw throughout the year. We’ve found mindsets (e.g., empathy, risk-taking, creative confidence) to be really valuable to measure in our makerspace and to see growth over time.
